Fusion splicing, termination and testing across Toronto and the GTA. Single fibre and ribbon, singlemode and multimode, inside buildings and outside plant. This page lists what we do and the numbers we hold to.
Fusion splicing
- Pigtail splicing. Field cable spliced to factory pigtails in a tray, rack enclosure or dome closure. This is how we terminate almost everything.
- Cable to cable straight splices. Joining two runs, extending a short cable, or bringing a new section into an existing route.
- Mid-span and express entry. Opening a cable part way along its run to branch off a set of strands without cutting the rest.
- Ribbon and mass fusion. Twelve fibres per splice on high count cable, 144 to 864 strand.
- Splice-on connectors. Used where there is no room for a tray or the link has to be finished in one visit.
- Outside plant to indoor transitions. Loose tube OSP cable spliced to riser or plenum rated cable near the entrance, so unlisted outdoor cable does not carry on through the building.
- Break and cut repair. Locate with an OTDR, cut back to good fibre, splice and re-test.
- Strand recovery on damaged cable. Splicing out a crushed or kinked section rather than replacing a full run.
Termination
- Fusion spliced pigtail termination into rack mount and wall mount enclosures.
- Pre-terminated assemblies. Installing factory trunks, cassettes and harnesses, including MPO to LC breakouts.
- MPO and MTP. Twelve and twenty four fibre trunks and cassettes, polarity method A, B or C, confirmed before anything is ordered.
- Field installable connectors. Mechanical and splice-on, for emergency restoration and single strand fixes.
- Re-termination of existing panels. Replacing damaged, dirty or mismatched connectors on live panels, strand by strand.
- Legacy panel work. ST, SC and FC on older installations, matched to what is already in the rack.
- Patch cord and pigtail assembly to length, tested before it goes in.

Enclosures and hardware
- Rack mount enclosures, 1U to 4U, sliding and fixed.
- Wall mount enclosures and small splice boxes.
- Splice trays, heat shrink and mass fusion, loaded and labelled.
- Dome and inline closures for outside plant, re-enterable.
- LGX and cassette based distribution frames.
- Fiber distribution hubs, hand holes and pedestals.
- Adapter panels and couplers, singlemode and multimode, keyed where required.
Cable we prep and splice
- Singlemode OS2 9/125, indoor and outside plant.
- Multimode OM1 62.5/125, OM2, OM3, OM4 and OM5 50/125.
- Constructions. Tight buffered, loose tube gel filled, dry water blocked, ribbon, micro cable and micro duct.
- Jackets and armour. Interlocked armour, corrugated steel tape, riser FT4 and plenum FT6, indoor and outdoor rated.
- Counts. 2 to 864 strand.
- Aerial, direct buried and in duct cable, including figure 8 and self supporting.
Testing and documentation
- Splice loss read from the fusion splicer and confirmed by OTDR, not estimated.
- Tier 1. Bi-directional insertion loss, length and polarity on every strand with an optical loss test set, referenced against a calculated budget.
- Tier 2. Bi-directional OTDR traces showing every splice, connector, reflection and the distance to each one.
- End face inspection to IEC 61300-3-35 on every connector, scoped and cleaned before mating.
- Visual fault location for short links, bends and tray faults.
- Deliverables. Test results as a PDF plus the native files from the meter, port and panel labels to TIA-606, and marked up drawings.
Emergency fiber repair
Cut cables, crushed conduit, backhoe damage and failed links. We locate the fault with an OTDR from the nearest accessible end, expose the cable, splice in a new section and re-test the affected strands. Temporary restoration first where the site needs to be back up, permanent splice and closure after.
